Gah, I am soooooo coooooold. Apparently our heater is broken. I woke up in a state of absolute freezingness this morning and came downstairs to make a quick, warm coffee and oatmeal breakfast. As soon as it was ready I ran back up to my room and enjoyed it under the warmth of my covers.

This was fab-U-lous.
- 1/3 cup each oats/vanilla soy/water
- splash of vanilla
- 1/3 cup pumpkin
- tbsp. flax
- cinnamon
- tbsp. granola
- tbsp. maple syrup
- tbsp. cranberries
- peanut butter spoon
It’s amazing all the things that can be packed into one delicious bowl, right?? Apparently simplicity is not my specialty. Enjoyed with not one but two cups of hot coffee and I managed to peel myself out of my warm bed and start my day.
Although it was freezing inside, the sun was glistening outside so I went for a nice run in Rock Creek Park. I did a bit of legs and abs strength training back at home and was happy to have worked up a good sweat! I finally felt defrosted.
This afternoon I went apple picking with my roommate Allison and a couple friends. It was the last day of the season, so I guess we made it just in time! Pickings were a bit slim but we managed to get enough for what we were after and even got a free pumpkin each :O). It was the perfect fall day to be outside too. Now I just have to dream up a plan for my bounty!

I’m fairly certain that’s the first time I’ve ever been apple picking, but it’s something I’d love to do again for sure. Such an inexpensive fun way to spend a fall day outside. Just be warned: a lot of apple dishes are likely to make an appearance on this blog in the near future :O).
See you tomorrow, hopefully sitting in a house full of delicious heat.

Aw, apple picking looks like it’s so fun!
And yep, oatmeal is perfect for cold mornings
Have a great sunday!
How fun! Where did you go? I’ve been wanting to do that.
We went to Larriland Farms (http://www.pickyourown.com/) in MD. It was really pretty out there! Sat. was the last day of the apple season but it looks like they do all kinds of fruit and veggies with various schedules.
Oooh where did you go?
I went peach picking when I was in Charlottesville when I was an undergrad. Been meaning to find somewhere around here to go…
