Man, yesterday’s lunch was a bit of a FAIL!
Joelle and I had this amazing plan to meet at Market Lunch in Eastern Market to try some of their famous Blueberry Buckwheat pancakes. We had tried to go on a Sunday a few weeks ago but then we realized they don’t serve Sunday brunch. Boo! So I thought it was such a good idea to go at lunchtime yesterday. Only when we got there they said no pancakes after 11. This is why all dining establishments should have websites. We were so disappointed!
I do know they are also known for their crabcakes so I had a crabcake sandwich with lettuce and tomato instead.

I also ate Joelle’s collard greens since she’s not a fan.

The food I did eat was actually very good. However, it wasn’t pancakes! And that’s what I had my little heart set on. Oh well. My new idea is for us to wake up early one Saturday, beat the line and finally get our sought-after Blue Bucks. Waking up early on a Saturday sounds like a challenge but I have faith. It will happen eventually!
Here’s a picture of the place. I had a hard time choosing which photo to include here since the two I took both feature Joelle in a different but equally amazing unsuspecting pose.

But I decided I like this one better because she’s kind of mid hair swoosh. Fantastic
.
So! That was yesterday and now this is today. Back to culinary school tonight! After missing last week due to sickness I’m more than ready to be back in class again. Beef is the theme of the evening so it should be an interesting one!
No working-out today since I go work-culinary school-bed without much time to breathe. But sometimes (all the time) cooking is so much more fun than the gym
.
See you FRIIIDAY!

No pancakes after 11:00 at Denny’s….crazy?!
Haha we were not at Denny’s!
haha, what!? we were not at denny’s! we were at a place called market lunch
PS. Oh geez haha that picture, YIKES!
hahaha love the mid-hair swoosh. i, too, have faith that you chicas will accomplish mission pancakes
happy thursday, girl
Well… you both tried right?
Better luck this weekend!
Have a great time in class tonight!
Bummer about the no pancakes… the place looked cute, though… not like that helps, though if you were disappointed in the food!
That’s always a bummer when you have your heart set on something and you don’t get it. Crab cake looks great though!
Haha, I would prefer the crabcakes..
I’ve never been to the Eastern Market…..I must visit the next time I’m home!
I’m not a fan of cooked collard greens myself but your crab cake looks good!
Love the mid hair swish – you can’t pose pictures like that! I’m glad you’re feeling better! It’s so fun to be sick.
Bummer about the pancake quest. It seems silly that a place known for its pancakes would stop serving them by 11! I eat breakfast for lunch or dinner sometimes – I think other people would, too!
Can’t wait to see the beef pictures!
I totally agree! The woman behind the counter told us we’d have to go to Denny’s or IHop if we wanted pancakes! haha. No thank you
.
It’s *no* fun to be sick – DUH.
gosh I just love buckwheat pancakes so I imagine I’d be the same way about trying my best to get some of those blueberry ones!!
The crabcake sandwich looks awesome though. So springy-summery. I’m thrilled to see what beef creations you have at culinary school! I adore beef!
happy Friday, Beth!!
Pancakes sound like a pretty good motivator for an early Saturday wake-up-call. I bet you’ll accomplish it eventually
