Ahhhh, I cannot even remember the last time I had a meal as good as last night’s!
We ate at Selva Grill which I chose after doing extensive research on fine dining in the Sarasota area
. It came recommended by the editors of Sarasota Magazine and after eating there I can completely see why!
We started with cocktails…I had the Gingerberry Martini. Ginger martinis are the best I think. Sweet but not too sweet and very refreshing.

Our server brought us bread and truffle butter too. I didn’t get a picture but they had me at truffle butter! We all agreed we could happily have made a meal out of that alone

For an appetizer I had tuna ceviche. I luuuurve ceviche, which is one of the reasons I thought Selva looked especially yummy.

TUNA TIRADITO NIKKEI - Fresh tuna marinated with ginger, soy sauce and cubes of fresh watermelon
Fantastic! The tuna was so fresh and flavorful and watermelon was such a lovely summery compliment. By the way, are you noticing the presentation!? All our dishes were so beautiful!! Which I think adds to the taste a lot

For my main, I ordered the sea bass.

MIRIN ROASTED SEA BASS – With corn custard flan, sautéed bok Choy & black bean sauce
Oh myyyyy was this amazing. The sea bass was delicate and buttery. The corn flan was so unique and heavenly. I never would have thought corn flan and black bean puree to be a good match but they were divine together.
And then of course, dessert

100% cacao creme brulee
I’ve never had chocolate creme brulee before and it was too amazing! A marriage of the lovely creamy dessert with the world’s best dessert flavor
. And the fresh berries were perfection!
Start to finish, the meal was just incredible. I can’t find one single fault! I’m always searching for the next 100% delicious meal and it’s such a rare treat when you do finally find it. Good thing I don’t live in Sarasota or I think I’d eat there every day!!

Wow! Everything looks great and I love the presentation of everything that you were served! Eating at restaurants where the presentation is great and the food is even better is such a great time!
Great review of Selva. The last two times I was at Selva I had to order the grilled duck with the green pea risotto. It is so delicious!!
I recently picked up some truffle butter at Fresh Market. It’s so great quickly sauteing fresh corn with shallot and garlic and finishing with the truffle butter at the last minute. Yummy!
Thanks for the recipe idea! I LOVE the sound of it. Truffle butter anything wins in my book!
