I was quite an accomplished packer yesterday afternoon, even though looking at my emptying room kind of makes me want to cry
. But nevermind! I had last night’s Restaurant Week meal #3 to cheer me up.
My friend Jackie and I went to Acadiana which I’ve been dying to try for a while now. The menu is based on Louisiana-style cooking and I do LOVE New Orleans!
Biscuits with pepper jelly to start:
I love biscuits and I loved these. Warm, crumbly fresh and quite zingy thanks to that jelly.
trio of deviled eggs - crabmeat ravigote, caviar, cheddar cheese bacon

I liked the idea of these because it was a nice way to taste three different concepts. They were adorable and had a nice flavor but I didn’t taste much of a difference between the three. It would have been nice for each unique flavor to be a bit more pronounced.
new orleans style barbeque shrimp - garlic butter, black pepper, worcestershire sauce, warm bread

The shrimp and especially the sauce were DELICIOUS. But, it was just shrimp! With some boring old bread. It would have been nice to have something else going on there.
warm vanilla bread pudding - bourbon cream, praline crunch ice cream

My dad, who will eat pretty much anything, hates one food in the world: Bread Pudding. As a result, I automatically assumed it was horrible and never even tasted it until I was 19! Good thing I gave in though because I now know I like it very much. This was soft and doughy, which is pretty much my favorite dessert texture ever
.
Overall, a good meal but nothing spectacular. After having had such a mind-blowing meal at PS 7′s on Wednesday I just couldn’t help but compare!
And with that I must say I am GLAD restaurant week is over. It’s always a fun one but my tummy is so over 3-course meals right now.
Question: Is there a food you cannot stand?? For me, it’s ketchup - blech.
See you tomorrow, maybe even with something I cooked myself!
- Beth

I love ketchup!! That food look awesome, I love how they grilled the lemon.
The dessert looks really good!
Ugh, I can’t stomach cottage cheese. I have tried to like it, I just can’t!

Cottage cheese weirds me out, and muscles and clams.
My boyfriend would die if he saw deviled eggs on a restaurant menu!
I think biscuits may be my most favorite food in the entire world – YUM!
And you don’t like ketchup??? Seriously??
I can’t stand pineapple or coconut. Eww….gross.
Yay glad you had a good din! Uh, have you noticed whenever we eat together, I tend to use a lot of ketchup.. sorrry!
Personally I cannot stand cilantro and celery.. random but way unappealing.
ps. packing boxes stinks!

You’ve been enjoying a lot of great food lately.

I don’t think I can’t stand any food… well.. I don’t like pork smell when it’s not flavored with something else.
Not quite all packed but moving next Tuesday. Eek!
have you ever tried beet ketchup? they have it at the macrobiotic place near me…wonder if you’d like it!
Ohh, never heard of it! I won’t knock it til I try it
.
I might be going to Acadiana for brunch sunday–they have a good “all you can drink” option then
Now im excited, these pics are great!
