The rest of the weekend was just lovely. Louisa and I discovered the pool is just like bath water which made jumping into it quite a treat! We did about thirty minutes of swimming before dipping into the even hotter hot tub. By the time we walked outside, the freezing air actually felt quite refreshing!
After a nice shower, I headed out to VA to meet my friend Jackie for her birthday lunch. Our original plan was to go to Passionfish but sadly it was totally booked when Jackie called to make reservations. Instead, we tried Mon Ami Gabi - “A Classic French Bistro”.
I love French restaurants because they remind me of my cooking school days
. We started with a little celebratory drink.

It was Sunday brunch time, so most had bloody mary’s and mimosas. But a glass of rose sounded good to me so that’s what I went with.
To eat, some ooey-gooey French onion soup.

And a butter lettuce and honey crisp apple salad with beets and goat cheese.

I fell in LURVE with French goat cheese when I was in France. It’s got a brie like outside with a goat cheese interior. So I was very happy to see it on top of this salad!
It was no Passionfish but I’ve got no complaints. Just another excuse for a future lunch I suppose
.
Hope the start of your week treats you well. See you Tuesday!

You were at Mon Ami Gabi, we were torn between Mon Ami Gabi and Montmartre for our anniversary dinner. We went to Montmartre, thats a good one too. May be we will go to Mon Ami Gabi some other time.
I’ve heard great things about Mon Ami Gabi!
I love Mon Ami Gabi! I always go there for my birthday
That french onion soup looks amazinggggg.
OMG that French Onion soup looks ridiculous! I always make it but it never comes out quite like that. Maybe because I can be cautious with the cheese! I guess I should just go all out!
So did you take the new camera to the restaurant?
And this is one of the reasons I seriously love you. Wine at brunch? Yes, please!
haha – noooooo. i am being way cautious with it! it’s only allowed in the confines of my home for now
.
That salad sounds amazing!! Looks like a great meal!
Mmmm goat cheese!
What’s our next restaurant to hit? That wine looks good- quality over quantity, right?;)
