Proof Lunch Special

Hi there! Today is a very special day, for today we celebrate the birth of my darling work friend, Diana.

Our office is located right downtown, which certainly works to our advantage when it comes to dining options. I usually pack my lunch, so when there’s an occasion it’s an extra-special treat to go somewhere fun. And there are so many options to choose from!

One thing that a lot of the fancier restaurants are offering lately is a bar lunch special. An entree and perhaps a beverage and/or a dessert for a price much lower than what’s offered in their dining room. It seems like a win-win because the bar is getting business at a time when it would usually be quite empty and office workers are getting a lovely lunch at a reasonable price.

Proof just happens to be on my list of most-wanted places to try in 2011. So when I heard they had a $12 bar lunch special I was a happy girl! And today, in honor of Diana’s birthday, we dined there.

It was awesome inside. Rows and rows of all kinds of delicious bottles of wine lining the walls. It was a beautiful sunny day today but I imagine the atmosphere at night is even better!

We were the first diners to arrive when we sat at the bar around 12:45, although it filled up as our meal progressed.

Our bartender handed us menus: $12 for one of four lunch entrees and a beverage of choice. When you consider their lunch entrees usually run around $15 for the meal only, $12 with a drink is a nice deal!

How delicious is that?

I had the Proof tuna melt.

It was really excellent. Warm, flavorful tuna salad topped with a creamy slice of havarti and crisp romaine. Served with a side of crunchy, salty chips. And the perfect little size for a nice lunch!

Although mine was good, the shrimp burger that my friend ordered was absolutely the winner. It tasted so fresh and summery – a taste of the warm weather I’m wishing would get here already!

And there you have it, Proof’s lunch special. Crossed one of the restaurant list and enjoyed a delightful celebration lunch. How’s that for a mid-day pick-me-up??

This place looks awesome! I love finding reasonably price places to dine where you can enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant as much as the food!
