Hi my friends! I’m really sorry I went missing for so long. Lots has happened over the last few weeks and months and I needed to step back and just focus on life for a while. But I’m back now and certainly plan on sticking around
.
First – an exciting/scary announcement! A couple of weeks ago, I handed in my notice at my editorial job. It’s a job I’ve been doing since I graduated from college and while it certainly had its perks: a young, fun group of co-workers, good pay and benefits… I’ve always known it wasn’t really the job for me. What mostly kept me there for almost four years though was that it allowed me the extra time and money to explore the things I really did feel passionate about. I went to culinary school and took my food writing and photography classes, used a pay bonus to enjoy the amazing food and wine of Northern California and most recently began working weekends at a winery.
But while I always dreamed of finally being brave enough to leave the stability of my desk job in order to pursue something more fully, I never quite did. Until finally a few weeks ago when it felt like life was going in all sorts of conflicting directions. While I’d found a few things that made me really happy, one was making me pretty blue. I woke up one Saturday morning and just knew it was time to leave. And so I did! It’s scary scary but very exciting. I’m not entirely sure of what happens next and definitely need to sort out my head about a lot. But in the mean time I’ll be working a few days a week in the tasting room at Hume Vineyards, moving to Virginia to live with some good friends and taking some real time to create content for this little blog. I’m pretty pumped!
And so, that’s where I’ve been. I’ve done lots of cooking and eating and enjoying life while I’ve been away but am really looking forward to getting back to sharing it all with you. So hi again! It’s very good to be back
.
