Hi friends! Oh boy does it feel nice to have a sense of normalcy again after a crazy few weeks. I’ve been a busy bee moving out of our old place, scrubbing the whole house down, taking things to my new place and Louisa’s to storage. Then I had to be at the winery Fri-Sun!
But the good news is, Louisa’s found a little studio apartment for her and Amelia Bedelia after all. PHEW! So I’m moved in and settled, Louisa’s moved in and (almost) settled and now I can get back to what I’m meant to be doing – figuring my life out
.
And working at the winery of course. Friday was actually a glorious day to be there because it was sooo quiet. Just what I needed to catch my breath. It also gave me a chance to get some photos to share with you here.
Hume Vineyards used to be a cattle farm and was purchased to become a winery in 2007. The owner and winemaker Stephane, his wife and baby live in a house on the property. Their land is about 60 acres, 12 of which are under vine. While the estate fruit matures, the grapes used to make Hume’s wine come from Breaux Winery.
Here’s the tasting room, which has been open for about 1 year and 2 months. On October 1 we officially released our first 100% estate grown wine, the Rockstar Chambourcin. It is divine
.
And inside. This structure is new, made from recycled materials. The original building actually collapsed right before it was set to open as the tasting room! Good thing it happened when it did.
When large groups come in, we often host them out in the barn. The barns are also used for wine storage.
I just love that picture. How great is my life right now??
And here is some of our wine. Not just because I work there but I’m a huge fan of Hume’s wine. Stephane is originally from France and his wine is made in that style. It’s all nature-made and not at all overly sweet like some VA wines can be.
So there you have it! Sure beats looking at a cubicle all day, no?? I know it’s not a life I can afford to live on forever but right now things are pretty sweet.
I’ll be back again soon! We’ve got so much more to discuss.

Gorgeoussssss! Glad youre getting settled too
I am SO jealous of you life right now! It all looks so beautiful!
Where was I? I totally missed out on hearing you are now working here…what fun! We have a winery in the small town I grew up in and I love going there! So peaceful!
yes i posted about it a week or two ago – it’s why i went missing for a while! good to “see” you here again
.
I love that pic too, so peaceful! what a great spot to be and get paid!
Mmmmm my hubby and I love visiting vineyards and seeing the wonderful techniques so many wine makers are doing now with recycling and earth friendly practices.
Missouri wines are often sweet too but we’ve found a few vineyards that make some really great, less sweet ones that rock.
Gosh, how beautiful. I’m totally jealous!
I love that you’re getting paid to do what you enjoy so much. You’re a lucky girl!
[...] I shared with you my pictures of Hume the other day, they were actually just some random snapshots I’d taken with my point and shoot [...]
