Hi Bloggies! It feels nice to say that again. Thank you for your sweet comments and emails and messages – everything will be fine eventually but I really appreciate your kind words in the meantime
.
We’ve got a cooking class at work tomorrow and I’ll be there for 13 hours-ish, so tonight I took off a touch early to get things done. It’s so nice having some extra time in the evening! I’m too sore from a slightly over zealous round of Body Pump the other day to move much but it was just a shame not to take advantage of the daylight. So, I went for a nice long walk this afternoon.
I also had time to make a favorite easy-peasy recipe, which I was craving after discussing it with this girl the other night. Nut butter crusted sweet potato! Topped with a little greek yogi and cinnamon. Oh yum.

While those sweet little potatoes were roasting, I had a read of my book.
Which I absolutely love! I probably shouldn’t as the book is about a girl who commits to not eating in restaurants for 2 years and eating out is well, one of my very favorite hobbies. (Can that be a hobby?) But it’s really good! Not only do you get to hear all about the challenges and adventures that not eating out in NYC can bring, she delves into all sorts of interesting “eating in” challenges like freeganism and supper clubs and cook-offs.
When I lived in Foggy Bottom, my roomies and I would always opt to eat in over eating out. It was just so much nicer to be at home, enjoying each other’s company and a leisurely dinner without worrying about how to get back or what restaurant we could all agree on. And this lovely book has reminded me of how fun that was! I should really start that up again – who wants to come over for dinner??
Anyway, that’s enough for tonight. What good books have you read lately? Unemployment leaves lots of time for reading
.

Yes—eating out can be a hobby!! But…I do agree that eating in can be fun too, especially with friends (and wine!). I’ll be right over
I haven’t read any great books lately—I read Trust Agents, which is about social media. It was interesting, but not necessarily a fun read!
Those potatoes-yummm!! I love having friends and family over for dinner. I try to do it on the regular. However, sometimes its awesome to go out so you dont have to worry about dishes
I swear I almost fell over in my chair when I finally went through my google reader and saw 2 posts from you!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED!!!
We need to catch up!
heather!! i missed you SO much. i’m planning a trip to CL in the very near future too

Mmm I love eating in. I struggle sometimes wanting to make something if I’m feeling bad (pregnant at the moment, with a toddler) and usually I feel that buying convenience foods is almost the same as eating out…..
Glad you’re back! I’ve missed your blog! I had you under my favorites and am happy to see you’re back! Life is good!
Thank you Sue!
Yay! We made the blog again! Woot for 1007! Miss you and hoping your real dream job finds you — and appreciates how lucky they will be to have you real soon

1007 forever!! Now that I live in NYC, I eat out every day of my life. I miss our crowded kitchen. xoxo Allison
