Hi There! You would think I would blog so much more while I have no job but I’ve noticed the opposite is true. I’m sorry! It’s been a week of highs and lows as I keep searching and interviewing, imagining all the possibilities for the future, having near panic attacks and trying very hard to stay present
.
I shouldn’t complain as I do have lots of balls in the air at the moment. And if all goes well, at least one will turn out to be the job of my dreams (or similar) and everything will work out exactly as I dreamed of back in September.
But in the meantime, I keep working at it by day and enjoying the company of those who make me happy in the evening hours. Last weekend my two favorite gals, Louisa and Amelia Bedelia came over for some home cooked supper and a movie. I made us cheesy grits with local cornmeal Louisa brought back from a recent visit to North Carolina. Served with chicken sausage and a lovely little salad.
Insanely good! Louisa and I decided we could eat them every night
. I think my hips tell me otherwise.
Then we sat with some Three Fox Gatto Bianco vino in our Hume glasses and enjoyed a viewing of Water for Elephants. As you can see, Amelia feels most content when she gets to chill with the ladies. (We need to get a life)
I’ve also been very good at sticking to my half-marathon training program…which is a good thing since it’s a mere 5 weeks away now! Long runs must be fueled by a delicious breakfast, of course.
Like this delightful waffle stack: whole grain waffle topped with yogurt, banana slices and cinnamon, another whole grain waffle, yogurt banana slices, cinnamon and of course a blob of peanut butter
. So many layers of yum!
And finally, some cocktails, just like the one enjoyed last night with my darling Jackie.
And there you have it! A small snippet from life of late. See you soon friends.
“Do not look back. And do not dream about the future, either. It will neither give you back the past, nor satisfy your other daydreams. Your duty, your reward—your destiny—are here and now.” –Dag Hammarskjold

I totally get how having more free time actually makes you blog less. Whenever I’m home from school and have all that time to myself, I blog less than when I’m cramming it in before my internship or class. Something about a structured schedule just fits blogging.
And those cocktails have me excited for tonight!! I’m celebrating a friend’s birthday
Don’t know if I’ll go the martini route, but those look pretty delicious!!
Great job with training (and yummy breakfasts!!) i heart grits!
Whoa, I had that jacket for like YEARS. One of my faves….had to give it up when my pregger/nursing boobs came in like a champ. hahaha
Glad you’re having a good time between the stress of finding a new job and training for a half! I want your cocktails asap. Pregnancy really makes going out less fun. haha
that cat…
I’m glad you are spending time with people who matter to you! I can relate to not blogging too—sometimes when you don’t have to schedule things to fit them in, they just don’t happen as regularly!
Good luck with all the interviews and stuff!
Those waffles look delightful! And I totally know what you mean about time and blogging. I actually blog more NOW that I’m working full-time and late every night… I think just because I know if I stop, I’ll never start again, so I stick to a schedule!
[...] butter and honey into them this time and although that’s not as good as the cheesy version I made last time, I’m quite certain they were a little lighter . Gotta keep things fairly healthy for [...]
